A primer on workplace aging research

Published: 14-12-2024

Our article in the Annual Review of Developmental Psychology 2024 is now online and open-access! Susanne Scheibe, together with Dorien Kooij (University of Tilburg), have created a concise yet comprehensive guide to the dynamic and rapidly growing field of workplace aging research.

Here’s why this topic matters:
💡 Did you know? 79% of adults aged 25 to 64 years are part of the global workforce, spending about one-third of their waking hours at work. Understanding lifespan development requires understanding work life!
💡 As we age, changes in our emotions, cognition, personality, and motivation help us engage, perform, and enjoy well-being at work.
💡 Some age more successfully than others at work. Why? It's all about how we adapt to the demands of our jobs. Work conditions, roles, and how we navigate those shape how we age—affecting how long we stay cognitively sharp, our emotional well-being, health, and even personality in our later years.
